A great day of golf to raise funds for PVO projects that assist veterans
The first fundraising event for the new PVO organization was a community Bar-B-Que at the Rancho Bernardo Winery in 2014. This event was also intended to introduce the PVO to the local communities and was a resounding success. The initial PVO mission was to provide assistance to veterans residing mainly in the Poway area and nearby communities. Since that time PVO has received requests for veteran’s assistance from all over San Diego County. With the increase in requests for our services the PVO needed a reliable method of raising funds to support our veteran’s projects. PVO board member Nick Yorio joined PVO and brought much needed organizing skills to our fundraising needs. Nick is an avid golfer and experienced in raising funds by organizing charity golf tournaments. In 2015 the PVO had their first golf tournament and it was a resounding success.
The PVO has held well attended annual golf tournaments since then with the 3rd tournament having 152 golfers at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. PVO also has a working relationship with the Randy Jones Foundation. The PVO tournament winners are automatically entered into the annual Randy Jones Tournament at no fees. In 2017 we added John Hine Mazda to our partner list as they donated a new car for the golf tournament hole-in-one contest.
The proceeds of the PVO tournaments have allowed us to respond to more requests for assistance and also provide us with the opportunity to financially support other veteran’s assistance organizations. In August 2017 the PVO was featured in a front page article of the San Diego Union Tribune describing the success of our organization in meeting the needs of deserving and needy veterans in San Diego County.

2015 PVO 1st Annual Golf Tournament
Our first tournament took place on 17 August 2015 at the StoneRidge Country Club in Poway, CA. 104 golfers participated in this shotgun start, best ball tournament to raise funds for PVO veteran assistance projects.

2016 PVO 2nd Annual Golf Tournament
Our second tournament took place 15 August 2016 at the StoneRidge Country Club in Poway, CA. 136 golfers participated in this shotgun start, best ball tournament to raise funds for PVO veteran assistance projects.

2017 PVO 3rd Annual Golf Tournament
Our second tournament took place 14 August 2017 at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo in San Diego, CA. 144 golfers participated in this shotgun start, best ball tournament to raise funds for PVO veteran assistance projects. VA Medical Center San Diego Director of Volunteer Services Donna Fischer was the featured speaker at the tournament luncheon.
