PVO members participated in the annual San Diego VA Medical Center “Operation Holiday Backpack” program on 15 December 2018. The VA Volunteer Services Department provides backpacks stuffed with donated personal items such as hygiene kits, snacks, clothing items, etc. to each veteran patient in the medical center wards receiving care over the holidays. More than 250 filled backpacks were assembled and distributed to in-patients by PVO and other veteran volunteer organizations. PVO provided puzzle books for each backpack, thanks to a generous donation by PVO member Paul Kassel.
